Salary: $12.57 per hour (Range 7)
Hours: 3.3 hours/10 months (Monday-Thursday/part-time 4 days per week)
Benefits: Holidays; Vacation; & Sick Leave; Less than 4 hours does not qualify for Retirement.
Location: Salinas Adult School assigned to ESL Program
Specifics: High school graduate or equivalent required, supplemented by training or course work in child growth and development or closely related areas. Must complete pre-employment assessment. Must complete the American Red Cross Babysitting Course or any combination of training and experience that demonstrates an ability to perform the duties of the position. Must possess valid first aid certificate and infant/child CPR training. Under general supervision, care for children ages two to fourteen, whose parents are attending school district functions or classes. Assist in implementation of the babysitting program by modeling, encouraging, and supporting positive parenting skills and behaviors. Must have knowledge of safe working methods and procedures, as well as basic child safety practices. Must be able to communicate effectively with parents who do not speak English. Required bilingual ability: English and a designated second language. Physical demands and working conditions: moderate physical labor; may be exposed to communicable diseases.
