If you are going to be successful you need to know the rules of the game, and the best way to discover the rules of the game is to model successful people around you.  Essentially, this means that all you have to do in order to be successful is watch what successful people around you are doing.  Once you see what these successful people are doing, you need to start  doing the same.

Throughout the years I have seen many very successful job seekers and people who, regardless of the economic climate, are able to always find a job.  In fact, these most successful of people could find a job if you picked them up and put them on the street in virtually any city.  The most successful job seekers seem to have the following characteristics.  Each of these characteristics is also learnable.  Follow these, and you too can experience the success I have seen these people experience.

1.  The Most Successful Job Seekers are Hungry

The most successful job seekers I have seen are totally focused on getting a job and already believe in their mind that they have been successful in their job search.  These job seekers are undaunted and purposeful to a degree that nothing stands in their way.  They look at the world and its signals are constantly providing reinforcement that they are on the right track, and each signal they see seemingly gives them even more confidence that they are on the right track.  In fact, these job seekers are almost incredulous because they believe that they are continuing to see signs of success around them even when this might not be the case.  This keeps their spirits up.

To these job seekers, getting their next job is not a fantasy, surreal or a possibility.  It is something that will most certainly occur, and they know it for sure.  As each sign that they might be succeeding appears to them, they only get more and more inspired, and believe more and more that they are close to their dreams.

2.  The Most Successful Job Seekers are Extraordinarily Focused

I am sure you have heard the saying “do one thing and do it well.”  There is a lot of power to this statement.  Essentially, the power of this statement is that it says you should concentrate on one thing and the more you concentrate of one thing, the more proficient you will be at it, the more signs you will see and the stronger you will get at what you are doing.  If you are really focused at anything, you are usually going to do well.
